Ganesh, Maya Indira

biography

Maya Indira Ganesh is a researcher, educator, and cultural practitioner who works at the intersection of digital technologies, culture, and society. She is an Assistant teaching professor co-leading the Mst in AI Ethics and Society and is a Senior Researcher at the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence, University of Cambridge. She earned a Drphil in Cultural Sciences (Kulturwissenschaften) from Leuphana University, Lüneburg, Germany in 2022. Her current research-pedagogy investigates how learning and teaching methods and materials contribute to the shaping of expertise in shaping AI as ethical, reponsible, and political. Prior to academia, Maya worked with international civil society organisations including Point of View, and Unicef, in Mumbai, and Tactical Tech in Bangalore and Berlin. She also works with arts and cultural institutions in Germany. In 2022, she co-curated AI Anarchies with Nora N Khan and the Junge Akademie at the Akademie der Künste, Berlin; and she is working with the Martin Gropius Bau for their 2023-2024 exhibition about AI.
