description

The Müller villa (or Loos villa) is a luxurious villa in the Ořechovka district, Prague, which the architects Adolf Loos and Karel Lhota built for František Müller, a wealthy developer and owner of the state-owned construction company Kapsa-Müller. Loos applied his functionalist theories and the raumplan where space is not simply divided into rooms on different floors, but into cubes, and each space is divided into several levels. This house can be compared to other buildings such as the Steiner house in Vienna with an identical plan on each floor. Like others by Loos, this house is very sober on the outside and relatively rich on the inside, avoiding too much display of wealth.
