description

Located at the edge of an interchange in the south of Aix-en-Provence, this V-shaped sculpture marks the proximity of the foundation of its creator, Victor Vasarely. Vasarely was a Hungarian visual artist renowned as the father of optical art. "We sometimes come across elements that are a little extraterrestrial, psychedelic, typical of the production of the 80s [...]. The word Signal is often found in the names of these pieces. It's powerful, it says it all. These monumental sculptures, which can reach heights of up to 25 metres, act as markers of territory, they are there to identify a place - in this case Aix-en-Provence, the home of Vasarely. They must provoke a reaction, entertain without disturbing. This also explains why some proposals never saw the light of day because they represented a risk of accident.
