On 15 October 1908, the Italian poet Filippo Tommaso Marinetti was involved in a car accident while driving his new 4-cylinder Fiat sport, avoiding a cyclist who crossed his path. Although he escaped the accident unhurt, it was nevertheless a defining moment for the poet, who would soon after write the famous “Manifesto of Futurism”, published on 5 February 1909 in the Bologna ”Gazzetta dell'Emilia” and then on 20 February 1909 in “Le Figaro”.
