She has been involved in art and design history through her undergraduate and postgraduate work specializing in designed objects and practices of the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries, particularly with regard to women's roles, the domestic interior and home environment. She was senior lecturer and tutor in art, architecture and design in the UK including Kingston University, Brighton University and the University for the Creative Arts. Her doctorate thesis High Style and Society: Class, Taste and Modernity in British Interwar Decorating was awarded in 2011. For thirty years she was specializing in jewellery at Christie's Auction House in London. Her chapter ‘A Point of View: Christopher Hussey's Sense of the Picturesque’ was included in FLOW Interior, Landscape and Architecture in the Era of Liquid Modernity (Bloomsbury, 2018).
