Galison, Peter Louis

biography

Peter Louis Galison, an American physicist and philosopher of science, was born in New York in 1955. Pellegrino University Professor of the History of Science and of Physics at Harvard, his books include “How Experiments End” (1987) and “Image and Logic: A Material Culture of Microphysic”s (1997). He is best known in France for “Objectivité” (2012), co-authored with Lorraine Daston, which brings together the history of art, science and representations based on the new visual regime instituted by photography in the nineteenth century.
